The Township of Langley is regularly seeking applicants to augment auxiliary positions for Recreation Worker III ? Instructors (Sport, Arts and Crafts, Dance, Gymnastics) (from approx. September 4, 2012 to approx. June 30, 2012) to join our team of professionals in the Recreation Culture and Parks Division.

We are looking for individuals that are passionate for community recreation and its ability to build individuals and communities to be active and healthy for life. It is essential that the ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, is energetic and enthusiastic, is well organized and is able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of internal and external contacts.

Sports Instructors - Successful candidates must have the ability to provide leadership for a variety of recreation programs and activities.? Applicants must have the ability to plan and lead structured programs with a focus on a variety of sports skills in a recreational setting.? Level 1 or 2 Coaching certification is desirable.?

Art and Craft Instructors - Successful candidates must have the ability to provide leadership for a variety of recreation programs and activities. Applicants must have the ability to plan and lead structured programs with a focus on arts and crafts skills in a recreational setting.

Dance Instructors - Successful candidates must have the ability to assist in providing leadership for a variety of recreation programs and activities. Applicants must be able to instruct a variety of dance styles (ballet, jazz, hip hop). Previous instructional dance courses or experience is required.

Gymnastics Instructors - Successful candidates must have the ability to provide leadership for a variety of recreation programs and activities.? Applicants must have the ability to plan and lead structured programs with a focus on a variety of gymnastics skills in a recreational setting.? Previous gymnastics coaching experience is required and Level 1 Coaching certification is preferred

All positions require: completion of Grade 10 and some experience working with the public, preferably in a recreation environment; valid Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate.? A minimum of 1 year program leadership experience is preferred.? Certification in HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Childhood Development is also desirable.

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $18.90 - $22.08 per hour (2011 rates), plus 12% in lieu of benefits.? The hours of work are non-standard hours and/or non-standard work weeks.

These positions are defined by the Township of Langley as positions of trust (Child Safety) and require a criminal record check.
